For Socrates, being properly ordered means having a properly ordered soul. He says that when you make your spirit the priority, it winds up being self-defeating. For example, chasing pleasure can bring you into all sorts of conflict with other people. And similarly, if you focus exclusively on victory and glory,. you wind up feeling ashamed or angry at yourself. That's where Socrates wins over the boys by polishing up his own statue of the tyrant.
