Isenhower, the Most Conservative President of the Twentieth Century?
The conservative mment got started against the person who was, in many ways, the most conservative president of the twentieth century. And ats because isenhower recognized that americans had actually come to rely upon the securities provided by the ne da social welfare safety net. To tear that up would be a radical act, not a conservative act. But here's the reason why we maybe shouldn't be so mestalgic for a for those moderate republicans. They saw themselves as the most legitimate republicans whose parents and grandparents and great grandparents re republicans.
