The Story of Radopus
Radopus was a beautiful Thracian slave and courtesan desanthes of Samos who also owned the legendary Fableteller Asop. After obtaining her freedom, she set up a brothel, built up a thriving business, and amassed a small fortune. She commissioned expensive votive offerings to Delphi, which Herodotus claims to have seen himself. Another tale about Radopus was related by Strabo in the 1st century BC. The story of Radopus remained popular throughout antiquity.
