What Is It an Illegitimate Request?
The Jews had started a migration of Jews from Europe. They went to Ottomans and said, look, would you be willing to carve out this piece of land? Nobody really wants it. The British conquered the Middle East in 1917 during World War I when the Ottoman Empire joined in with the Germans. When the British took it, there was something called the Balfour Declaration. It basically said, we are carving out this area, what was called Palestine at the time,. This area, we're carving out this region as a state for the Jews.
