Lubena himid is one of only four living british artists to have ever had a major retrospective. She was just three months old when her father died from malaria in zanzibar. Her mother brought her back to london with her sister, betty and richard's mother. The artist has become recognized as one of the most powerful political voices in british contemporary art.
