The Naya Sutra
The Naya sutra was written in the first or second century AD. The commentator Vatsyayana says, Naya is the examination of things with the help of evidence. An argument based on observation and received belief is called an anviksha,. And the discipline known as anvikshiki, or Naya, is that which pertains to such arguments.
