Last time, we discussed how Joseph had grown up in a New England subculture where many people believed that divine knowledge could be revealed through objects such as rods and stones. We touched on how Joseph had come upon or been led to separate seer stones even before he had received the plates in the Uriman Thummim from Moroni. After his encounters with Moroni, we talked about how Joseph soon learned to use his gift of seeing the unseen for the higher purposes of doing God's work.
