The Importance of Rating Deviation in Chess

The reason is because it's been a year of time they could have learned a lot of chess. Your rating system is blind to all of that activity and the next thing that you see and do is they beat someone at level 2000 so then you think okay maybe they've just really improved in that time. You jump up their level really really fast right all the way up to 1,600 now one thing I should be clear about is that the other player how much the other player will will move actually depends on on their rating deviation also.
