Underwater volcanoes are a big thread. We just don't think about them because they're below the water. It's really pretty rare that you have a submarine volcano actually erupt all the way through the surface of the water and up. So how high did the eruption plume from this blast actually go? It got at least 30 kilometers high. That puts it in the stratosphere, or the upper atmosphere. The atmospheric waves that occurred afterwards went across the globe ya.
