The Longest Held Political Prisoner in US History, Leonard Peltier
Leonard Peltier is the longest held indigenous political prisoner in US history. The American Indian Movement was a sort of militant organization founded in here in Minneapolis in 1968 to combat police violence, but also to combat discrimination that Native people felt between 1969 and 1978. A report found that between 25 to 35% of Native children had been adopted out from Native families. Minnesota is even though it's almost top down Democrat, it's a very hostile place for Native families in terms of separation.
