Caskets and Coffins: What You Need to Know
Silled caskets are pushed for above ground mausoleums to have less likely chance of decomposing odors being noticed. In the 1700s a change in English law allowed all people to be buried in a coffin. Cofins also usually do not have hinges on their lids. The lid comes completely off unlike a casket. A casket is the one that's shaped like a boring rectangle with the slim area at the foot and the wide part for the shoulders.
