Why the Yen Gets Destroyed in 2022

When JGB yields rise to a certain level, which used to be 10 basis points, then they would step in and do what's called a fixed rate operation. They offered to buy an unlimited amount of JGBs, the cap yields at that specific sort of level. And so the reason that you're seeing the yen get destroyed in 2022 is because of yield curve control in a rising global yield environment.
