i think the fact that we both expressed, you know, reticence t to be in these sessions or whatever before they happen, like this is why the world sucks, right? Itis, becauseis, people, people are resistant. We're no exception. And i don't think there's really a way around that, unless you want to stay on the surface level. But also, it feels risky to basically b like the pattern wherein is trying to make each other and preserve this connection, and it's actually making us unhappy and damaging our connection.
In part one of a very special two-part episode from Brave New Work, Rodney Evans and Aaron Dignan talk about…themselves. Specifically, their partnership and why they decided to start working with a coach. Together, they dig into:
- The tensions, dynamics, and patterns that prompted them to seek outside help
- How they picked a coach and the skills and capabilities they wanted to level up on
- Why org designing their way through conflict wasn’t working
- Why self-work is a critical part of self-management
- What’s scared them, surprised them, and pushed them after a few months of coaching
