Roger lowenstein is against the buy back tax for the same reason that i am. It's not coming out of any risk that anyone's taking, it's fees being paid to the firm and then the firm gets preferential tax treatment on those fees. Tax brak does not create an incentive, exactly. So private equity would probably still be investing other people's money if they had a higher tax rate. None of this does anything for the end user at all.
