CHAPTER

The Role of Narrative in Medieval Politics

The Wars of the Roses is really a multipolar conflict between a whole bunch of different parties, only some of whom were even English. There are multiple players, foreign kings are involved, supporting first one side and then another. Power players switch sides at really important moments, like key members of constituencies of each side. At the end, there's nothing Yorkist or Lancaster and about either side, aside from some very distant claims and a few retainers who have managed to survive.
