Kauffman: Nietzsche says perhaps the problem had never been put so far and I think he's perhaps correct about that. He begins with this sort of like he's speaking with the voice of how he perceives how the metaphysicians of all ages read dogmatists, moralists of the past. So we'll start with section two, quote, how could anything originate out of its opposite? Kauffman: It has not even occurred to the most cautious among them that one might have a doubt right here at the threshold where it was surely most necessary.
