The Samaritan Woman and the Culture Wars

The culture wars really scares me because I think it makes people afraid of each other. The church's portrayal of the Samaritan woman as an archetypal sinner has some real consequences for women in the church. Where do you see this reception history intersecting with contemporary praxis in churches? Like where do we most acutely feel this legacy of interpretation?
