Introduction
In the 1920s Walt Disney created a character named Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. He discovered that he didn't actually own the rights of the character. His distributor refused to sell them to him and instead hired away many of Disney's animators to produce more Oswald cartoons without him. It was Mickey Mouse who became an instant hit and paved the way for Disney's future success. And by re-acquiring Oswald, he was able to add another beloved character to his stable.
