The Current Landscape of Disability Policy

Olmsted was a landmark Supreme Court decision in 1999, which found that under the ADA, states had an obligation to offer people with disability services in the most integrated setting. Olmsted has historically been used to get people out of what we might traditionally call institutions, nursing homes, state institutions. There is a growing interest in experimenting with this theory and using it for criminal justice reform.
