Rabbi Shmuley Boteach talks about the role of forgiveness in Judaism. He says it is a form of love and compassion that can only be given to one generation at a time, not 500 or 1/1,000 as some people believe. The rabbis also argued against capital punishment for crimes such as murder which they say weakens reverence for god.
