How to Measure Difficulty
The best way of measuring difficulty that we generally tend to use is probability of getting it correct. So these are called desirable difficulties because they actually increase the rate of learning. If you have a large data set of lots of people then you can start talking about probabilities and so you say okay this person has like a 50% chance of getting this thing correct. That means it's more difficult than this other thing for them is more difficult for them than this otherthing which is 80%. And if something would be great if you retrieved it but you just can't retrieve it then you don’t get any gain, right? You want to balance two things successful retrievals are good for increasing
