Is the Transition Going to Be Fair to Workers?
There are many, many workers working in high carbon sectors who are afraid of what the transition means. We did a study last year that looked at a range of high carbon sectors and showed we found 660,000 jobs that were at risk of being lost or off-short. Those jobs, what was needed to maintain them going forward, was investment into decarbonisation - future-proofing. There's a large number of high carbon jobs which won't necessarily disappear, let's say, in manufacturing steel and currently using coal-fired blast furnaces.
