The Crisis of Caregiving in the US
As more people enter old age, we're going to see a ballooning number of people who need dementia care. In the US, there's these two competing forces in elder care between maintaining security and autonomy. I think most memory units in this country don't allow for a lot of humanity in caring for patients. The Netherlands have a very different conception; they say people with dementia are still human beings.
