How to Use Heat as a Training Tool

The best way you can get the best heat adaptation is exercising in the heat, long exposures and periods of time where you have a high core temperature. So that's kind of the gold, the gold standard. In 2015, I took a different approach, whereas I did a significant block of sauna, sauna work day in, day out for like a week. And then I went back out to Kona 10 days before the event. That was enough to then bring me back up to speed because there is this kind of, this plasticity of response on race day.
