Theoretical Advances in Computer Science
In the early nineties there were very good answers that gave already non interactive, zero knowledge proof systems. They had asymptotically and theoretically, pretty much the same performance as the snarks that showed up only recently. A lot of the initial theoretical aa constructions were extremely inefficient from a practical point of view. Now i can basic the bitstam can just generate a string, send it to me, and i can read that string and verify that istrue. That is the advance er, not exactly.
