The decision to invade ukraine can't have been made on the basis of ideology alone. Wasn't cold, hard reality, the likelihood of staunch ukranian resistance ever even considered? I mean, russia has obviously a gigantic intelligence gathering capacity. How could putin believe that the population of ukraine would welcome russian troops as liberators?
