Are You Led by the Spirit or Legalistic?

A lot of it comes back to understanding holiness and purity and grace. See, we can't earn peace with God through the law. We choose holiness because we already have his peace. It's not something that we're bartering with God. A lot of people coming from legalism live with this deep set fear of God's judgment or hatred he does not actually love them.
