Did Ellen's Joke Deserve the Level of Hatred That She Got for It?

There was a lot of outrage, particularly in april. April was, it wasn't monh and we were glerified. The comparison was naturally met with baclash on line. Many people criticised her for being totally oblivious to her own privilege. Do i think her joke was particularly evil or bad? No. But looking back at it now, it's a joke that a comedian's made. I've got to say, though i understand the back lash. It didn't read the mood in the room.
