Is iCloud Encrypted?

I worry that everything is going to live in Apple's cloud system. I've been on Apple long enough to not 100% trust it. iCloud, I believe, is encrypted, but the backups aren't something weird like that. Right now for obsidian, I have everything in my Documents folder. My Documents folder is downloaded and backblazed and put time-machine and everything like that.
