Adding an Applicative to a Verb

If you're a language creator, the series of steps you need to go through is first deciding if you should or should not have an applicative. The important question is once you've added the applicative to the verb, what happens to the demoted object? Does it just get put afterwards in exactly the same case that it used to have? Is it easy to reintroduce? Can you do anything with it once it's been reintroduced? And the last bit, the last super important bit for the applicative that I was going to say, and I'm forgetting, and that's all there is to know.
