NHS advises pregnant women to limit their intake of caffeinated drinks. Data suggests higher levels of caffeine associated with smaller babies. It can actually lead to feelings of palpitations. And some people report sleep disturbances. The recommended safe limits for adults who aren't pregnant or breastfeeding are 400 milligrams per day, which is about three or four cups of coffee a day.
