The Return of the Panorama
For a long time, after the middle of the nineteenth century, people didn't think about very much. You went to a museum, there was the thing, usually in a glass case with a label on it. And er, you were taken round as a child and either found it inspiring or a bit boring. Virtual recontextualization is now absolutely at the centre of what the am is doing. The return of the panorama is, i think, a very fascinating, again, a romantic phenomenon.
