Sex Addiction Research and Treatment - The Biggest Changes
When i was starting out in this field, the only language to describe one's relationship with problematic or disregulated sexuality was the term sex ediction. The biggest change has been going from an ediction model to really going to a much more nuanced model where the treatment modalities and ends up being more of a harm reduction a model. And just not using the term adiction. I use the term what often gets used clinically is out of control sexual behavior. That means that clients can gain a sense of mastery, whereas a addiction, you're sort of more powerless. Problems are complex. Abehavior is not a thought or an urge, it's a behavior.
