The Smart Goal Formula for ADHD

With ADHD, we cannot be vague. Vague is like giving our brain this fast pass to distraction. If it's not fully locked in and engaged, if there's questions around the goal, the brain will just go right off the rails. It doesn't engage the brain. An example of being too vague is would be my goal is to get in better shape. And that's true. But now I can use this and apply it to other goals in my life.

It gave me someone to shoot for and a timeline to get there. And I achieved it. I hit the targeted weight. I had a great time to show, felt great in my skin. And that's like, when you achieve a goal, it just did the boost in the self-esteem, the boost in the self-worth, it goes up a notch or two. And I think that if we look at the smart acronym on goals, have you guys ever heard about that? Smart goals? The whole smart goals thing, it applies in this case. Never really actively utilize the acronym. But when we dissect this particular situation, this particular goal, it applies. So now I can use this and apply it to other goals in my life. I'll give you a quick breakdown if you've never used the smart goal formula. Smart, it's the acronym. SMART. S is specific. M means measurable. A attainable. R relevant. And T is timeline. And specific. Oh, that first one. That is so key for ADHD. And this helps because with ADHD, we cannot be vague. Vague is like giving our brain this fast pass to distraction. If it's not fully locked in and engaged, if there's questions around the goal, the brain will just, it'll just go right off the rails. An example of being too vague is would be my goal is to get in better shape. And that's true. My goal is to get a better shape or my goal is to be fit. It doesn't engage the brain. And the brain is just like, yeah, so what? So what about it? What do you want me to do? Huh? What do you want me to do? You want to be in better shape? What am I supposed to do with that? I mean, I can make you feel like shit because you're not because you're not in shape.
