Sand in Deserts
We tend to think of deserts as consisting of sand dunes, but actually only a small fraction of deserts are andy deserts. Sand is ubiquitous in deserts because it's the smallest particle that's left behind after all of the eolian erosion and transportation. So the smaller particles are removed by the wind, and the er sand grains are the smallest size that's left.
