The Anachronisms in Beowulf
The poet knew that that wasn't what they did back them so rit they, you know, so as to not introduce anachronism. And there also seems to be a great historical sense in the fact that we can make family trees for the royal houses of denmark and sweden. Half of these appear once, and only a dozen are mentioned more than five times. None of it oo beowolf's father, which, as a aside, means servant of the glade - kind of cool.
