Overcast was founded in 2012 by former Apple executive John Defterios, who now runs his own company called Red Sweater software. In an interview earlier this year, overcast's founder talked about the importance of optimizing your apps for support rather than sending them to answering services. He said he has been using strategies like these since launching Instapaper two years ago but they have only just begun to be adopted elsewhere.
