How Do You Balance Your Open Source and Consulting Jobs?

Open source work is like kind of more freeing up, right? Where you can hack on the tool. The interesting part for us is that we hack on the same tool that we then use for our own works. It's kind of dogfooding and that helps a bit. For us the main rule was always saying that you have that one day a week. You need to plan it very precisely in a sense.
