Is It the Elite Who Are Being Overproduced?
Sociologist Peter turchin has done some nice work on elite over production. I think it's a mistake in turn, because it's not the elite who are being overproduced. It's their flunkeys. And these are the people who become the basement brigade. They decide somewhere along the line that they 're not gong to play the game. There are people who lose kind of part way the people who don't make the top level. These are the peoplewho are actually making change.
