How to Calculate Effect Sizes in Heart Rate Variability
No papers really tend to report their effect sizes. So I did a search on meta analyses in heart rate variability and found, uh, 17 eligible meta analyses that have been done. There were 300 or just under 300 effect sizes comparing a case and a control group. And then from there, I did and looked at the distribution. plotted a nice little histogram, which, which you can see in the paper, but also calculated the percentiles - the 50th percentile of Cohen's day,. the 25th percentile and the 75th percentile.
