The Civil War Resonance of the English Parliament Argument

The English Civil War has an awful lot to do with the Union. It's a struggle between the Crown and a Parliament that did not want to pay taxes in order to fight the Crown's wars. If you have an English Parliament it will be much less willing probably to support interventionist foreign policies. The issue is going to come to a head most immediately over fox hunting legislation because the Tories have a semi-commitment to allow a free vote for the repeal of the ban on fox hunting.
