How Did You Go About Reading With School?
I grew up in northern Minnesota with long winters and very bad TV reception. I would say I had long hours just to read and I read voraciously. If you read a lot, one of the things I actually find is that if you read a lots, writing becomes natural. Many people hate writing in school because the teacher gives them an assignment. It's meaningless. But if you are a reader, I find usually at some point people have something they want to say. They've got so many hours of language embedded in their brain that developing a written voice comes naturally. So I would say extensive reading supports both reading and writing and then understanding just about everything.
