The Risks of Taking Stimulants for ADHD
There have been no identified long-term risks of these medications. The FDA themselves did three huge studies about cardiovascular problems, 7.3 million people and they basically said there is no added risk for the cardiovascular system from taking these medications. Every once in every 600 people, the medications will suddenly just stop working. A woman going into menopause and losing estrogen seems to be necessary for these medications to work. It just appears that the medication can't get from the blood into the brain.
