Historians of many stripes get when examining practices that might be ethically tricky by today's standards is, well, but back when these things were being done, it was fine. So I was wondering if you can sort of help us understand how we can think about today's standards when we're looking at the past. David Perry: Medical ethics isn't a fixed point in time. We can't simply look back at the past and kind of point the finger and say, well, you know, we now know that we should have done. That would be a historical and it would be completely out of context.
