The Life and Times of Joplin

In 1902, he published a ragtime ballet called the Ragtime Dance. Shortly after that, he published his first opera, The Guest of Honor which sadly, no longer exists. Joplin's efforts to stage it and take it on tour were just plagued with misfortunes. He seems to have filed a copyright application that was lost. That same here, he got married again to a woman named Freddie Alexander. Sadly, Scott and Freddie's marriage lasted only 10 weeks. She died of pneumonia in 1904, at the age of 20.
