Serum Free Light Chains in Mialoma Patients
serum free light chain levels is a test that fewer providers, especially those yho may have trained some time ago, will have familiarity with. A significant percentage of mialoma patients don't have a full protein in their blood, and therefore the cerum protein electoferesis is negative in those patients. If you don't look for free light chains in the blood stream or bench jones proteins in the urine, you will miss the diagnosis. And that's perhaps 15 or 20 % of patients.
