The Gospel of Thomas: A Counter Narrative

If we start by assuming that Thomas came later, well, then we'll conclude that those new sayings were added to all the others. Why would they add new sayings to a list of known teachings in Jesus from Matthew, Mark, and Luke without attempting to explain why they were doing so? Instead, the Gospel of Thomas only gives us a long list of sayings of Jesus without doctrines or explanation or instruction. We're just given a collection of wisdom without context, without theological framework, without a counter narrative. If these sayings are trying to tell us something deeper and more profound than what some of those other Gospel authors understood, then we've got some digging to do and some thinking
