Scipio of Rome fought the carthaginians in a battle that opened the war he would ultimately win. The romans were outflanked and driven back to the bridge they had built in the withdrawal. Scipio himself was wounded and was saved either by a slave girl, or his 18 year old son, scipio african. 16 years later, the romans crossed back over the bridge and burned it to prevent theCarthaginians from pursuing.
