The Importance of Proper English
We grew up in a place where proper English was so important, right? And I think it got really, really into our brains. It's even something as specific as the way that you say the word ask, right? Some people might call it ebonics for people to say ax instead of ask. But we do not say things how they're spelled. We say things how people, groups of people, have agreed to say them. "It just comes back to... It's rooted in a racist mindset," he says.
