The Coherence of a Piece of Music
The coherence of a piece of music has to do with recognizing elements again and dna. I like to think of it as the d and a of the piece, the stuff of which it's made. A composer can use sonata form to implant these little bits in listeners minds that then make them want to have the story told. The first time you listen to one idea, am that that's growing like an epetri dish. It's starting to grow into some kind of entity.
